Permitting Your Pole Barn

At the November meeting, Newman & Rose Architects made a presentation as to the process associated with permitting a pole barn, whether it's before the fact or after the fact.  Unless you have an agricultural exemption, obtaining a permit is likely required for your homeowners insurance, mortgage company, and the selling of your home.

That presentation is attached below as a PDF file.

Saddle Valley/Big South Fork, TN

Saddle Valley Campground is located just outside the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area in Tennessee. Saddle Valley has campsites with electric and water hook-ups, five barns located around the campground, eight big open pens, and a large bath house with covered pavilion. Campsites offer picnic tables, fire rings, and hitching post. With over 200 miles of horse trails in the park, and trails that take you from your campsite into the park, where the trails are maintained by the NPS, we are the premier equestrian destination.

Visit www.saddlevalleycampground.com or call Teresa at (931)879-6262 for more information.

Popash Creek Preserve

Lee Conservation 20/20 has created a parking area suitable for horse trailers within Popash Creek Preserve, and it is quickly becoming a popular riding area. Thanks to Laura Wewerka, Senior Land Stewardship Coordinator, the parking area was opened several weeks ago.

The combination lock has been removed. Signs with the general rules are posted.

Jeanne Cornele (543-2350) and Jo Harder (731-3445) ride in the preserve at least weekly, so please contact either one of them if you have any questions.

Volunteer at Florida Horse Park
Anyone wanting to volunteer at any of the events held at Florida Horse Park will be given free camping and stall in return.  They post the schedule on their web page (http://www.flhorsepark.com) so you can look and see what is coming up.  Jobs will vary.

Great way to be part of the action and depending on what the event is a great way to see some big name riders and horses (Olympic caliber) and then go camp and ride another time.

Caloosa Saddle Club meets the 1st Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM
at the North Fort Myers Fire Station on Nalle Road
